IMPORTING GAS CYLINDERS

In order to protect workers in New Zealand, pressurized gas cylinders need a compliance certificate to be imported into the country. For this process, the Importer brings the cylinders into the country and arranges for a compliance certifier to come and inspect the cylinders, to ensure the markings are New Zealand compliant, the condition is satisfactory and all applicable tests of the cylinder have been carried out. There are different types of compliance certificate for different purposes, see below:

IMPORTING UN CYLINDERS

Do your cylinders have a marking that looks like this?

If so, we may be able to approve these cylinders based on their UN (United Nations) marking map.

IMPORTING CYLINDERS

Do your cylinders have a LAB number?

This is a special approval number given by WorkSafe NZ. If the Cylinders have a LAB number, to import them you will likely need an Imported Cylinder Compliance Certificate.

Fire Extinguishers

Fire extinguishers must go through the Imported Cylinder process, however there are some differences. High pressure types will require a LAB number as above. Low pressure Fire Extinguishers do not require a Lab Number.

PRE-COMMISSIONING

Is this the first time you are bringing these cylinders into New Zealand? you will likely need to have a Pre-commissioning Compliance Certificate done. Pre-commissioning is done in a more specific process; contact us today to discuss.
