Location Compliance Certificate
If you are storing over 100kg of LPG in any one location, you will very likely need to obtain a "location compliance certificate" stating your location has met the requirements of the relevant regulations: (Health ad Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017. This certification is comparable to a WOF for your car. By law, a gas supplier cannot supply you with LPG if you require a certificate but don't have one.
Compliance certificates apply for other substances too, for example flammable liquids and toxics. Other certifiers can issue these.
What is the process?
To start the process of getting a Location Compliance Certificate, drop us an email in the contact us page. We will get an idea of what your particular LPG storage situation is and organise a time for a site inspection. During the inspection, the certifier will ask to see training records and a site plan, and do a physical check on the LPG installation itself. See our guide here for what you need to have in place to prepare.
The physical inspection will usually take roughly 45 mins. If there are non-compliances, or the documentation is not complete/ready, the inspection may take longer. if everything is compliant, and it is a renewal visit, it can be as short as 1/2hr.
If we find non-compliances, we firstly try to work with you to fix whatever the non-compliance is. If it is major health and safety risk or hasn't been made compliant, we have to notify WorkSafe NZ of the non-compliance.
Once all matters have been verified as compliant, a location compliance certificate will be issued.
